May 2023, Natural Building Workshop @ Lazuz

We had the pleasure of welcoming 13 passionate and enthusiastic female builders, ranging in age from 21 to 76 and from all corners of the earth on our womens bulding workshop @Lazuz, Portugal.

Our goal was to build a section of, what will eventually be, a large common room, kitchen and storage area for the community. 

We used a variety of different techniques for our students to try out and understand, we tested sub soil, learned about ecological house design and all aspects of a building, we took a field trip to get inspired by other women builders, ate the best vegan meals from our chef Tamara, danced, laughed, cried a little and laughed some more. 

What always amazes me is not only what we can achieve physically on the site in 10 days but also how deeply we can connect, open up andd share with one another, how friendships can be formed that can last a lifetime.  These connections will stay with me and the WNBC crew forever, and as the community of women builders grow around the world so does our passion to continue are work and share what we love.
